When we were in Croatia we visited both Dubrovnik and Split and couldn’t resist scoping out some of the Game of Thrones filming locations. There were several that we didn’t get to, but we had fun seeing the ones that we able to visit.
This is what Dubrovnik looks like from one of the mountains overlooking the Old Town.

This is Dubrovnik as Westeros with CGI images of Kings Landing and the Great Sept of Baelor.
Most of the locations were in Old Town Dubrovnik.
The outside of the Ethnographic Museum is the setting for the brothel. These scenes show Tyrion and Oberyn outside.
Cersei’s famous Walk of Shame for Atonement was shot on the Jesuit staircase.
The riot scene was shot outside the city walls.
A lot of scenes have been shot around the bay area. We got to sit and have coffee at one of the restaurants overlooking the bay.
Fort Lovrijenac is The Red Keep.

It was in the background in the scene were Marcella was being returned to Westeros.

The docks are also in this area.

Another scence

The show also filmed in the substructures of historic Diocletian’s Palace in the city of Split.
There was a lot of CGI to form the throne room for Daenerys.
The substructures were also the location for where the dragons are kept!

Outside of Split is the Kliss Fortress, which serves as the location for Meereen.
This is what it looks like in real life:

Wow! You saw some great things on this trip, but the Game of Thrones locations might have been my favorites.
